Recycling/Solid Waste Schedules
Effective July 1, 2021
Fossil Transfer Station
Black Butte/County Road #19
Wednesday: 1-5pm & Saturday: 8am-Noon
Mitchell Transfer Station
Off Highway 207 approximately 1 mile NW of Mitchell
Friday & Sunday 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Spray Transfer Station
Kahler Basin County Road
Wednesday and Saturday
7:00 am - 10:00 am
All Transfer Stations
All grass must be bagged and disposed of as garbage.
Items accepted as recycling
Aluminum, steel/tin cans, corrugated cardboard and plastic milk/water jugs.
Separated, cleaned, boxed or bagged recyclables are FREE. No bundling required.
Metals/Appliances/Wood
The transfer stations accept all types of scrap metal (iron, steel, aluminum, copper) at no charge and $8.00 per non-refrigerated appliance. Clean wood waste is accepted at no charge.
Free E-Cycling available for limited time in Spring and Fall as advertised
Computers, most computer components, TVs, printers, scanners, copiers, DVD players, VCRs and stereo equipment are now accepted for recycling at all transfer stations.
Solid Waste (Garbage)
$0.15 per pound charged for solid waste, minimum charge of $3.00
Wash thoroughly, removing all food residue and labels. Sort and recycle steel/tin cans and aluminum separately. A magnet will stick to steel cans. Cut off the tops & bottoms and flatten. Cans with rounded bottoms do not need to be flattened. DO NOT INCLUDE: steel/tin cans from products other than food or beverages.
Flatten corrugated cardboard. Include flattened paperboard such as cereal boxes, laundry boxes, shoe boxes, beer/soda cartons, and egg cartons. DO NOT INCLUDE: magazines, catalogs, newspaper, office paper, junk mail or phone books.
Wash thoroughly, removing all food residue and labels. Crush and dispose of lid in the garbage. Make sure the #2 is on the bottle or jug. DO NOT INCLUDE: Any other type of plastic jug, bottle or tub.
