​Welcome to the Oregon Paleo Lands Center & Gallery. Explore Oregon's Wild Side! OPLI is open weekends during the months of May through September to provide information services to all who wish to "come, see, do and play" on Oregon's Wild Side in the John Day River Basin.

Facilities & Amenities
The clubhouse is open and provides restroom facilities from May to October. The elevation is 3,827.6'. Soda vending machine is also available then.

Fees
Payment is on the honor system, $1 per hole. Place fees in the lock box on the club house porch. Any non-member who wishes to become an annual member is more than welcome! Annual membership is now $225 families and $125 for singles.
Local Rules
Replace divots, rake sand traps. Keep power and hand carts at least 30 feet from greens and tees. Wheeler County is designated open range. Cows and rattlesnakes always have the right-ofway.
Course Type
Was owned by the Kinzua Corporation, the course has been purchased from its prior owners and is now owned by the Kinzua Hills Golf Association itself - that is, the members. Much of the money for the purchase was provided by an economic development loan and the association is paying it back over a number of years.
Year Built
Originated in 1930's but was replaced by a ball field for a semi-pro team. Reestablished as a golf course in 1951.
Prior Uses
Log yard for the Kinzua Corporation, included millpond. Baseball diamond for semi-pro team.
Fossil Museum
The museum displays artifacts relating to Fossil's history. This includes the original post office window from the Fossil Post Office on Hoover Creek, desk and church pews from the ghost town of Richmond, and the largest photographic collection of Wheeler County history in the state.

Spray Pioneer Museum
The Spray Pioneer Museum was built in 1912 as the Spray Baptist Church. It was deeded over to the City of Spray in 1991 and opened as the Museum in 1993. The Spray Pioneer Museum was organized for the purpose of preserving the history of Spray, Oregon and the surrounding community. To this end, The Spray Pioneer Museum collects, preserves, exhibits, and publishes material of historical character for the educational benefit of all visitors. The Museum has displays representing life in the 1800’s, Indian artifacts, fossils, families’ histories, pictures of settlers and much more.

To provide access for the public the Spray Pioneer Museum is open six days a week from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. During the other nine months the museum is open, at a minimum, the first Saturday of each month. Upon request the Spray Pioneer Museum is open for the Spray school children, bus tours, and other parties that wish to visit.

The Isobel Edwards Hall is an excellent choice for your wedding, reunion, party or just about any other event you can imagine. Located at 702 Third Street in Fossil. County Fairgrounds & RV Park
Wheeler County Fairgrounds, located in the heart of Fossil, hosts the Wheeler County Fair during the first week of August and several other events throughout the year. The Isobel Edwards Hall is offered for rent for meetings, reunions, parties, and other special events. Adjacent to the fairgrounds is a 12 space RV park with full hook-ups, as well as restroom and shower facilities.The elevation is 2,694'.

Shelton Wayside
(Closes Mid-October) Located at 42853 Highway 19 about 13 miles SE of Fossil, this park is open for mid-April to Nov. 1 and has 34 sites. Elevation is 2,246'. No reservations are taken for the sites.

Rates for both parks are $20 for the first night and $15 for each additional night. Extra vehicles are $5 per vehicle/night. Group rates (including scouts, schools, organizations, churches, clubs, etc.) are $2 per person. No hook-ups or sewer for RVs and Trailers.

Bear Hollow Park
(Open Yearly) Located about 7 miles SE of Fossil along Highway 19, this park is open year-round and has 20 sites. Elevation is 2,250'. You'll enjoy the aroma of Ponderosa Pines and true firs on a warm day. Keep an eye out for deer wandering in the nearby meadows. No reservations are taken for the sites. No hook-ups or sewer for RVs and Trailers. Potable water only.

Wheeler County Courthouse Grounds
The Wheeler County Courthouse grounds are located adjacent to the historic Wheeler County Courthouse in Fossil. The grounds were designated an official county park for day use in 1995. The elevation is 2,659'.

The Courthouse was constructed in 1901 at a cost of $9,025. The building has undergone extensive renovation, but still retains most of its original features and is one of only 2 or 3 courthouses of this age still being used for its original purpose.

The surrounding grounds attract many visitors who picnic and tour the historic building. The annual Bluegrass Festival is held on the Courthouse grounds during the 4th of July in coordination with the Fossil Cruz-In and classic car show. The building is decorated extensively during the holiday season and visitors are always welcome.

Spray River Front Park
This scenic little RV Park has 8 primitive campsites only, no hook-ups $12.00 per night. The elevation is 1,771'. There are no reservations for this park. Visit us at www.sprayoregon.us.
