The Planning Department strives to protect the agricultural and forest lands within the County while promoting responsible development for the benefit of landowners and the economic health of the county as a whole. Parties interested in building, development, or other actions governed by State statute and the local Wheeler County Zoning Ordinance are encouraged to call the County Planning Department and discuss regulations and possible options for consideration in an effort to promote healthy stewardship of lands within our County.

WHEELER COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Wheeler County Planning Commission will conduct a Public Hearing on Thursday, September 8th, 2022, at 5:00 PM to consider:
MP-22-001, CUP-22-003 & CUP-22-004. A proposed partition of tax lot 3006 in Township 08 South, Range 23 East to create two discrete Nonfarm Parcels and Conditional Use Permits for the subsequent establishment of a Nonfarm Dwelling on each resulting parcel. The applications were submitted by landowner of record Sandra Taggart and authorized agent Joe Chappell. Applicable criteria are set forth in Wheeler County Zoning Ordinance (WCZO) 5.8 (12) and WCZO 3.1 (14)(c);
